A family from Massachusetts (the Biscoe’s) spend a summer in the St. Paul area in 1860. They came seeking a health remedy in the form of a different climate, only to find “Musketoes” (as was spelled then) when they made a day trip via horse and buggy to Lake Owasso in June of 1860. (At the time Lake Owasso was called Bass Lake). The attached letter is from a letter collection donated from the Biscoe family to the MN Historical Society.
